China. Effect is being given to these arrangements which have since been slightly modified by provision being made for a guard of British Infantry over the encampment, and by only insisting on one Officer being always present in the encampment or in one of the neighbouring messes.

4. The construction of the matshed buildings has taken somewhat longer than was originally anticipated and it has been necessary to postpone the transfer to the shore from the 15th - the date mentioned in my telegram of the 5th instant to the 26th or 27th.

I have inspected the camp which is situated in the South West corner of the King's Park and is shown on enclosed plan and I consider that it provides satisfactorily for the health, comfort, and security of the interned Officers and men.
