To start the station at Cape D'Aguilar it will be necessary for the Colony to grant the use of the old lighthouse building and to make it suitable for use as a wireless telegraphy and port war signal station, the Navy providing mast and instruments, and to connect it to telephone with the central exchange. Commercial signalling, both visual and wireless, would be carried out by the Navy at Cape D'Aguilar and commercial signalling at the Peak without any charge being made against the Colony or its inhabitants on account of pay expenses of the naval ratings employed.

I beg to enclose a copy of the last letter written by

on the subject of Port War Signal Stations.

I am in entire agreement with you that the Royal Navy

should take these stations, and am in accord with your plan

in detail. I would however point out that it would be difficult, if possible, with the existing garrison and scheme of Defence, for Cape D'Aguilar to be drawn into the line of

Defence.
