the date of your arrival in the Colony; and
that, if it is established to the satisfaction
of the Governor that you are not qualified for
efficient service there, he will, subject to
the confirmation of the Secretary of State,
have full power to cancel your appointment
at any time within the said five years without
giving you any further compensation than a
passage back to England, which will be granted
only if he is satisfied that you have, by your
good conduct, deserved it. If not previously
terminated or expressly renewed, the appoint-
ment will cease at the end of the said five
years, and you will then be provided with a
free passage back to England.
If re-engaged, you will be placed on the pensionable establishment of the Colony, your previous service counting for pension, and your salary will after
six years service, counting from your arrival
in Hong Kong, be raised to £150 a year.
