Hongkong, 4th July, 1904.

Sir,

I have the honour to transmit

No. 218

under Colonial Office Rule 118 a letter from Mr. J. Grant Smith

a resident in this Colony.

2.

The services described by Mr. Smith were

of the usual kind only and do not appear to me to be of such

a nature as to merit Royal recognition. A juror is seldom call-

ed upon in this Colony to serve more than once a year and in

Civil Cases every juror now receives $25 during each day of

the trial. Formerly the fee was $10.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient

Humble servant,

Amay

Officer Administering the Government
