I have received private information that the Hongking & Shanghai Bank is writing subscriptions for debentures for the Shanghai-Nanking Railway and that pressure has been brought upon the British & Chinese Corporation to make similar arrangements for Canton-Hankow railway.
The Chamber of Commerce has recently urged upon the Corporation the necessity of demanding that the company should either utilize or resign its concession.
