5. I would draw attention to the fact the government Bacteriologist was appointed on a sterling salary that he ... who applied for ... and was granted ... allowance. It was also introduced that he was in charge of the ... and had to live close to that institution, and his successors ... office should continue to have allowance.

A despatch to the Secretary of State dated the 4th September 1902 stated that Dr. Tausch, who is in charge of the laboratory, has therefore to live close to that institution.

to draw the horse allowance of #720 per annum. I ask that a conveyance allowance be granted.

6. On these grounds, with Para 124 of the Colonial Office Regulations, I respectfully ask that the Right Honourable the Secretary of State will be pleased to reconsider my application and direct that the house allowance of #720 per annum be granted.
