that a younger man might with advantage be appointed to the vacancy when it occurs. By that time the re-organisation of the Office will be satisfactorily completed, and an Officer of less experience than Mr. Drayson should be able to fulfil the duties of the post. It is possible that for such an Officer a smaller salary may suffice. This is a matter of which you are in the best position to judge and I leave the question of salary in your hands.

The exact date from which the new candidate should be appointed cannot be definitely stated at present as Mr. Drayson may desire to take some leave before he actually severs his connection with the Colony.
