Training school for Chinese Midwives at the Alice Memorial Maternity Hospital.
1. The course of study to be two years.
2. During the period the students will be housed and boarded at the Alice Memorial Maternity Hospital, the Government paying to the hospital $8 a month for each student.
3. The students to be under the orders of the lady Doctor in charge of the Nethersole Maternity Hospital.
4. At the end of the period of training the students shall be examined by an examining board consisting of the Principal Civil Medical Officer, the Superintendent of the Alice Memorial Hospital and the lady Doctor in charge of the Maternity Hospital and if found competent a certificate shall be granted.
5. After obtaining the certificate the midwives' services shall be at the disposal of the Government for three years at a yearly salary of $25 a month rising by annual monthly increments of $5 a month to $85 a month with quarters; during this time they will live at the Hospital or at some suitable locality approved of by the Government, and attend gratuitously Chinese women in labour under the supervision of the lady Doctor.
6. Rules will be subsequently drawn up for the guidance of the midwives.
7. A register shall be kept of all trained Chinese midwives.
