With reference to Mr. Chamberlain's Despatch No. 336 of the 9th September last and your telegram of the 12th January last, I have the honour to inform you that I transmitted the following information by telegram on the 22nd ultimo.
"Haffkine introduced February, 1902. 939 inoculated. 5 subsequent cases, 2 deaths. Public did not take advantage although free inoculations. Confined to Sanitary Staff and three of Alice Hospital Staff. Full report by post."

In accordance with Mr. Chamberlain's instructions in his Despatch referred to above, the Medical Officer of Health was directed to include statistics on this subject in his next General Report on Plague. The completed Report was not received from the Printers till the 18th ultimo, which accounts for the delay in furnishing you with the desired information. I now transmit 12 copies, and would refer you to the statements made by Dr. Pearse with reference to the use of Haffkine's prophylactic fluid contained in pages 10, 11, and copies by Book Post in 2 packets, marked for inversion.
