7. A large staff was employed during the year at Tai Po in the preparation of a Rent Roll. It has been roughly put together but should form the basis of a permanent system when the land has been re-assessed. Much poor land it would be more profitable to write off. Much of the Padi land should pay higher rates.

79 sittings of the Full Court - Mr. Dennys 166 sittings of one Member (myself) and 32 sittings of the Rent Court were held in 1908.
Substantial progress would have been made but for the sudden resolve to allow lawyers in the Cheung Sha Wan claims early in the year.
The claims between Sam Shui Po and Lai Chi Kok lay in places 10 deep. Ninety-seven of the large claims were disallowed wholly and nine in part during the year; mostly before Mr. Dennys left. A dozen or so of the remainder compose the Cheung Sha Wan case which has employed eight lawyers and lasted over the end of 1903.
