I have the honour to inform you that owing to the overcrowded state of Mount Caroline Chinese Cemetery, and the difficulty of forming new terraces there, it has become necessary to consider the question of the disinterment of coffins, and the provision of a piece of ground for the re-burial of the exhumed bones, with a view to using the old grave sites over again. This is a system which has been successfully adopted at the Mount Davis Chinese Cemetery.
The matter has already been discussed with the Authorities of the Tung Wa Hospital, who are prepared to undertake the work of exhumation and re-interment if the Government will provide a new site for such of the bones as it may be found desirable to remove thither. A suitable locality has been selected, of which a tracing is attached. The land is situated on the hillside and is not likely to be required for building or other purposes. It is of an area of 1 acre and is valued by the Director of Public Works at 3 cents a Square Foot and $150 per acre Crown Rent. Capitalising the latter gives $4,312.00

I have therefore to recommend that the ground in question be leased to the Authorities of the Tung Wa Hospital for a term of 75 years at a nominal Crown Rent of $1
