these three occasions were as follows:-
For Great Britain.. .37 lbs. 18oz. For Alexandrova Berlin. 1 lb. 14 oz. For Erquelines Faris. 1 lb. 7 oz. 8oz. 5.2oz. For Cracov - Vienne. For Harbin Manchuria.From November 10th. to December 19th. inclusive the Shanghai
Office has despatched the following mails:- 24 to London, 23 to
Brquelines - Faris, 22 to Alexandrova - Berlin and Cracov -
Vienne respectively and 13 to Harbin Manchuria.
The first despatch from Chefoo was made on November 13th. and the
weights of mails have varied a minimum of 3 oz to a maximum of
5 lbs. Up to December 26th. Chefoo has only sent one small packet
of letters weighing ... oz, to a foreign European Country.
I am not yet in possession of any weights from Liu Kung Tau.
Letters are despatched from Hongkong to Shanghai by every
Steamer leaving for the latter Port. The average weight of eight
mails despatched during December was:- correspondence for the United Kingdom 9 oz., for other places in Europe 2 oz.
Registered letters are forwarded by the Siberian Route. During
the week ended December 19th. in the three despatches from the
Shanghai Office the number of Registered covers was as follows:-
to London.... .37 to Alexandrova 2 to Erquelines - Faris. 1 and Cracov - Vienne 1 to Harbin Manchuria. J4During the month of December 26 Registered Covers were sent by
the Chefoo Office.
It is as yet doubtful how far South the sphere of usefulness of
the Siberian route will extend.
Up to the 28th. December four letters only had been despatched to
Europe via Siberia by the Hoihow Office and as the greater part
