The width of the groove i.e. the rails is fixed at one inch in consideration of the Company undertaking to indemnify the Government in respect of any claims brought against it by the licensees of 500 public jin rickshas on account of the widening of the tyres of the wheels of such vehicles in order to prevent accidents which might arise from the gauge being of greater width than the tyres.
