Sir,
I am directed to acknowledge with thanks the receipt of your letter of the 31st ultimo, and to inform you in reply that Mr. Drayson, Chief Clerk in this office, has undertaken to index the Library in the Council Chamber without additional remuneration, and that the system by which documents are recorded and filed has already been revised and is now in full working order.
2. In expressing my acknowledgements to you for your willingness to undertake this work, I have therefore to inform you that it will probably be completed before the date of your return to this colony.
