Gentlemen,
I am directed by Mr. Secretary Chamberlain to state that copies of your letters of the 24th and 25th instant on the subject of the electric tramways in Hong Kong have been forwarded to the Governor of that Colony who has been informed that Mr. Chamberlain has no desire to insist on the Tramway Company's complying with the maximum requirements of the Board of Trade's adviser if the Director of Public Works is satisfied that such compliance is not essential to the safety of passengers.
