I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter No. 16686/1901 of 19 instant on the subject of the alleged smuggling into Hongkong of arms for China.
2. As regards the subject of the regulation of arms traffic, the Colony has enjoyed, with the close attention of the Colonial Government & Police, a good many years of final settlement of "Contraband" matters.
The export of arms is governed by the Arms Ordinance of 1900 (No. 6, I think), which, with some amendments since made, is on the face of it...
