With reference to the letter from this department of the 26th ult I am directed to inform you that Dr Benson reports that in his opinion you are not physically fit for further service in Hongkong.
2. I am, therefore, to express regret that there is no alternative but to request you to retire from the service at the end of your leave of absence - the 28th inst.
3. The Governor has been asked to give the necessary instructions to the C.A. for the payment of your pension as soon as possible. Pending the settlement of its amount the C.A. will pay you from the 1st proximo an alimentary allowance, subject to adjustment when your pension is fixed, at the rate of $500 a year at 3/8 the dollar.
