I will in briefly fit for further service at the expiration of his leave of absence on the 25th of the month, I saw him on the 4th inst
my report I delayed pending a reply from Dr Sullivan of Cork (whom Mr M. Carroll has lately been) to a letter from me asking for particulars as to his symptoms not clearly exhibited which our hints

& it fully Confirms my Opinion I had already formed that Mr M. Carroll has been Suffering from Epileptoid attacks (fits) averaging about
one Each week, &
Showing no tendency of a
decrease in Frequency & severity. His Eyes, too, show degenerative Changes which are likely to result in blindness in the near future. He
is now 56 years old.
In view of this, therefore, I conclude that he will not be fit for service by the 28th of this month,
