STATEMENT for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, and for record in Colonial Office, respecting Miss Marguerite C. Moir an applicant for the post of Ward Sister in the Colony of Hong Kong
QUESTIONS.
1. Nurse, will you be good enough to state how long you have been acquainted with the applicant ?
2. Under what circumstances does your knowledge of her arise?
ANSWERS.
1. From May 1899 to 30th April 1902.
2. She received her training as a nurse in the County & City of Perth Royal Infirmary of which I am matron.
3. a. Was she honest ?
b. Was she sober?
c. Was she generally well conducted?
d. Was her health good?
3. a. Yes.
b. Yes.
c. Yes.
d. Generally, but she suffered from disease of the middle ear, and was operated upon. She was liable to be deaf a little when she took cold afterwards.
4. If the applicant has been employed under you, will you state the nature of her duties, and how she discharged them?
5. Will you state the cause of her leaving—whether by voluntary resignation, dismissal, or otherwise?
4. She performed the duties of surgical nurse in a hospital in which there are no students. The duties of an orderly, and also the medical wards, and attending general fever wards including diphtheria, also clerical work during holidays.
5. Her three years' course of training was over and this being a small hospital there was little chance of promotion here.
