Sir

The Committee desire me to inform you that they wish to recommend Miss M. E. Moir to the Secretary of State for the vacancy as a suitable Candidate in the Hong Kong Hospital caused by Miss Abraham's resignation.

They have specially selected Miss Moir because in addition to her other qualifications she has a knowledge of dispensing, which was mentioned in the letter from the Department of the 29th of July last, as desirable.

With regard to the reply to question 4. in the reference form filled up by Losan, they desired to say that careful enquiries have been made, and it appears that Miss Moir's health has been perfectly satisfactory and has given no trouble since the small operation was performed three and a half years ago; and the deafness, which might result from her having a cold, is so slight as to cause little inconvenience.

Starting, who performed the operation, gave Miss Moir a medical certificate of fitness eighteen months ago, before the left ear was treated, and she has since done almost continuous hard work.
