In accordance with the request contained in your letter No. 35804/1903 of the 5th instant, I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to return herewith the original enclosures of the despatch of August 21st from the Governor of Hongkong respecting the murder of a Chinaman in that Colony in March last.
Lord Lansdowne agrees with the suggestion of the Secretary of State for the Colonies contained in the last paragraph of your letter, that, besides demanding the trial of the perpetrators and instigators of the crime, the action of Admiral Ho and the other Chinese officials implicated should be brought to the notice of the Chinese Government with a view to their severe punishment.
