IREG 30 SEP 03)

HIS MAJESTY'S SUPREME COURT,

SHANGHAI,

15th August, 1903.

340

My Lord:-

I have the honour to report pursuant to

Article III of the China and Japan Order in Council

of 1865 that I have this day confirmed an order of

deportation from Amoy to Hong Kong made by His

Majesty's Consul at Amoy against Florence Garrett.

The grounds of this order are that Florence

Garrett while in charge of the wife of the Consulate

Constable at Amoy for threatening the life of one

William Wilson, took poison. The Consul required her

to give security to keep the peace or to be deported

under Article 106 of the Order in Council of 1865.

He reports that she is destitute and of very doubtful

sanity and that there is no proper means of re-

straining her at Amoy.
