F. Lascelles Wing May 16.1903
Sir:-
GARY
FOREIGN OFFICE,
May 21st,
1903.
76 131
With reference to your letter 41757/1902 of the 29th of January last I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to transmit herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, copy of a despatch from His Majesty's Ambassador at Berlin enclosing the reply of the German Government to His Excellency's communication on the subject of the assault committed by seamen of the German Navy on a Constable of the Hong Kong Police Force.
In view of the expression of regret on the part of the German Admiralty and the assurance that every effort will be made to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents, Lord Lansdowne is of opinion that the matter may be allowed to drop.
I am,
Sir,
Your most obedient humble Servant,
Blanderson
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office.
