I forward the speech which you delivered on the occasion of the opening of the new Tung Wah Hospital, a copy of which we enclosed in your despatch No.223 of the 24th ultimo last, that whereas Section 7 of Ordinance No. 1 of 1903 provides for the removal of all plague patients living in a house occupied by more than one family, the Colonial Government has undertaken in such cases, instead of the patient remaining, to remove the other families in the house to other lodgings, paid for by the Government.
I should be glad if Government would report whether such action (as mentioned in your despatch No. 563) should include not only particulars as to the effect of the experiment in reducing the death rate from plague and the spread of the disease, but also information as to the expenditure incurred.
