With reference to your letter No.35730/03
of the 7th ultimo, forwarding a despatch from the Governor
of Hong Kong on the subject of the Man-of-War anchorage
at that Port,- I am commanded by My Lords Commissioners
of the Admiralty to request you will inform Mr Secretary
Lyttelton that they are unable to consent to any reduction
of the space set apart for the anchorage of His Majesty's
Ships; but they have instructed the Commander-in-Chief on
the China Station, to whom a copy of this correspondence has
been sent, to consider whether an alteration of the limits of
the anchorage, so as to exclude the shallow water along the shore outside the limits of the Admiralty and War Office land, would meet the case.

1902 2.- Should any arrangement of this nature be found to
be practicable, My Lords assume that in that case the
regulations set forth in Colonial Office Despatch No.250
to Sir H. A. Blake will be put in force.
