Sir,
In reply to letter No.97/G of the 3rd instant from His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government, in which he informs me that of a proposal for readjustment of the Eastern boundary of the reclamation which is being made in front of the War Department property adjoining the Naval Yard, I have the honour to inform your Excellency that from the Naval point of view certain objections to the scheme must be raised.

First, as regards the sea wall of the Tidal Basin, shown on the plan as part of the Admiralty Works in progress, it is to be observed that, should the suggested extension of the War Department reclamation be carried out the Admiralty will be the losers of some 230 feet of sea wall - a berth for a small ship. Further, it is considered that the jetties, which it is presumed would have to be built out in front of the proposed War Department Extension, or the War Department Vessels lying alongside, would seriously interfere with the approach to the Northern front of the sea wall in the case of War Vessels coming alongside.

Secondly, I may remark that the suggested adjustment by which the War Department are to be compensated would not restore the loss of water frontage in which the Admiralty
