the Praya East reclamation scheme had

taken shape,

the Colonial Government could not have seen its way to

consent to the War Department reclamation being carried

out as it has been.

In these circumstances I am to enquire whether

His Excellency the General Officer Commanding will be

good enough to recommend to the War Department the modification of the Eastern boundary of their reclamation

shown on the plan.

If the War Department decide to share in the

Praya East reclamation scheme, and the terms on which

they could participate would have to be settled hereafter, it is considered that no difficulty would be

experienced in making an adjustment by which the War

Department would be compensated for the loss of their

existing reclamation which would be occasioned by the

adoption of the boundary shown on the plan.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your obedient servant,

F. May.

(Signed)

Colonial Secretary.
