Sir,

Goe Shery

With reference to Mr. Chamberlain's Des-

patch No. 59 of the 19th. February last, I have the honour to

inform you that the piece of land which it was proposed to

hand over to the Naval Authorities does not meet all their

requirements, and an extension of it is declared by them to be

necessary. Commodore Robinson points out that to enable the

course of the Torpedoes to be followed and also to allow of

communication by signal with the Kowloon Depôt and the Tamar"

it is necessary to have access to the higher ground on the

point. I ascertained that the requirements of the Navy will

be met by making the boundary line at F-G on the enclosed

tracing, and giving them the area A-B-F-G, and I have the

honour to recommend that this be approved.

2.

I have informed Commodore Robinson that

the grant of this land will be on the usual condition that

it reverts to the Colony when it ceases to be required for

the purpose for which it was granted, and with the further

stipulation that it must not be transferred by the Admiralty

to

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

ALFRED LYTTELTON, M.P.,
