PATHOLS IN THE CITY BY A SUFERINTENDENT 7 DEC 03
The Acting Captain Superintendent of Police
tates that he has made 3 in the City this year by night.
Mr. Rodehouse has not recorded his patrcis,
though he is bound by the Regulations to keep a journal and to
brit it to the Captain Superintendent of Folice on the 1st, of
ch month,
Mr. Wodehouse is so tied to his office
his time is fully occupied from 9 A.M. to 5, 5.M. with office
that he has little time to spend in patrols. This is not
atisfactory.

VISITS TO OUTSTATIONS.
The Quarterly Inspections are carried out,
at are somewhat in arrear for the 3rd. Quarter of this year due
the Department being shorthanded. Surprise visits to Out-
lations have been altogether neglected at the Stations at Aber-
en, Lamma Isiand, and Foxfular since October, 1901, This calls
or explanation. At the other Stations they have been less fre-
ent this year than last owing to the re being one less Executive ficer for duty.
INSTRUCTION.
It was always my intention as soon as 4
ecutive Officers were appointed to the Folice to institute
arterly Inspections at Central Station as at Cutstations.
This should now be done.
DISCIPLINE.
It is difficult to judge of the standard of
scipline in a brief and cursory inspection such as was made.
I notice however that the unwritten rule
kich formerly obtained that in all but very exceptional cases #issal followed on a Constable committing himself through nkenness for the third time is not observed.
