I have already referred in previous Des-
patches to the increase of crime (especially robbery with
violence and larceny) which has recently been noticeable in
the Colony. I have already taken steps to cope with this in-
crease of crime and I shall address you at length on the sub-
ject in another Despatch. In the meantime I have hopes that
an abundant harvest in the adjacent provinces, after a long
period of bad harvests and famine, will reduce the number of
bad characters who have lately flocked to this Colony.
I have the honour to be,
sir,
Your most obedient
Humble servant.
