With reference to your telegram of the

22nd. instant, I have the honour to confirm my reply to you

of the 24th. instant, in which I informed you that the area

of the King's Park' is 93 acres.

The reason that 100 acres was mentioned

by the Colonial Secretary as the area was due to the fact that

there was no accurate survey available and the figure was given

by him as an approximate estimate. The point was not considered

of importance, as the value set on the area to be devoted to

the Park was merely nominal. 93 acres, as stated in the plan

made subsequently to the date of that estimate, is a more

correct statement of the total area.
