Sir,

1 have the honour to acknowledge the re- ceipt of your letter of the 22nd. May, 4019/03/C.S.C., enclosing copy of a letter from the Frincipal Civil Medical Officer rela- tive to the danger.of treating small-pox cases in the new Naval Infectious Hospital.

The Commodore directs me to inform you in reply that the suggestion of Dr. Atkinson that small-pox cases should continue to be treated in the "Midge" will be acted on, pending any further directions from the Commander-in-Chief (to whom this correspondence is being submitted), and that the new hospital will be reserved for patients suffering from other infectious diseases.
