Extracts from Statements made by Kong Kung Hi

on 6th. February, 1901.

Kong Kung Hi states:-

I am a travelling trader.

On or about 11th. November, 1900, I came to Hongkong and in Hongkong I met Mong Ngau Ying who is a clansman of

mine.

He asked me to go and see Ng Shui Shang,

alias Ng Lo Sam, and I went with him, on 13th. November. I had

been a rebel against the Chinese Government, and Ng Shui Shang ask-

ed me to surrender and join the Government ranks and threatened to

have me arrested if I did not do so.

I promised to do as he wished, and he promis-

ed to give me $20 for expenses; as 1 was leaving he asked me to go

and see him that evening alone.

In the evening 1 went to see Ng Shui Shang

again. There was a Chinese Official present, I do not know his

name. Ng Shui Shang said the Official was a "Wai Yuen*(Deputy) from

Canton.

The Official told me he had come to arrest

rebels and asked me to help him as I knew the men.

I said to Ng Shui Shang that the rebels were

not in Hongkong. Ng Shui Shang then said "Do you know Yeung Kui

"Wan ? he is a friend of yours, is he not ?" I said "Yes I know him

"he is my friend".

Ng Shuj Shang said "I want you to kill him".

I said "He is here, if you want to catch his". He said "He cannot

k be arrested, I will give you $20,000, and a button if you kill him”.

The official was present all the time. I promised to do it, be-

cause if I had not promised he would have had me arrested. Then

the Official took out $20 and gave it to Ng Shui Shang who gave it
