copies of them for your consideration. I also enclose copies
of statements made in 1901 by two witnesses, Kong Kungi and
Kong Kai, who are not now in the Colony but who could be made
available.
The witnesses who gave evidence of a more or less formal
character in the trial of Lui Chui alias Li Kwai Fan, would also
be available. They are the widow, daughter and pupil of Yeung
Kui Wan, the medical officer, and the Police.
Upon receipt of instructions from you I would make appli-
cation, supported by sworn informations, to the Viceroy of the
two Kwangs for the extradition of the presons named, but it
would be idle to expect compliance with my request unless the
strongest possible pressure is brought to bear at the same time
on the Chinese Government at Peking and instructions issued by
it to the Viceroy to comply with my request.
