Honorary Secretary's reply, dated 21st. February, the proposal
has been unanimously accepted; in consequence of which the necessity for the condition, in respect to the rifle range being
allowed to be used by the Hongkong Rifle Association so long as
the War Department are in occupation of the area

no longer to exist. On this point the Major-General hopes that
His Excellency the Governor will highly approve of the arrange-
ment come to by the amalgamation of the Associations above
alluded to.

I am also to point out that it is
thought to be the probable intention of His Excellency to add
to paragraph 3 of your letter under reference the words
."and to bear the cost of construction";
and I shall be glad to receive a notification as to the cor-
rectness of this assumption.
