little,
In the exchanges as they stood without this addition the Colony gives a great deal and receives comparatively li especially when the 'King's Park' which is to be devoted to purely public purposes is eliminated. The War Department have
never made any use of the land and I trust therefore that no objection will be raised to including this area in the ex-
changes.

I have addressed you in a separate Despatch
on the subject of the new Rifle Ranges in substitution for those in the Kowloon Military Reserves.

I have received your Despatches noted in the margin
on the subject of the Naval Range at Kowloon, which it must be remembered was shared by the Hongkong Rifle Association, and I shall await the result of the proposal that the Navy should be allowed to use the proposed new Military and Associa- tion Ranges.
In the meantime the Military rights over the land occupied by the Naval and Association Range at Kowloon are included in the exchanges now submitted to you.
Should it be found impossible to allow the Navy to share the new Military and Association Ranges, I am in hopes of being able to find the Navy a Range elsewhere.

I enclose plan of the area proposed to be acquired by the War Department at Nog Tau Kok. It is hilly ground abutting and indeed slightly encroaching upon the new European Reservation at New Kowloon. It comprises a reservoir site which with its drainage area has been reserved to the Crown. Other stipulations are mentioned in the General Remarks appended to Mr. May's letter of the 11th. ultimo which
