The Commodore in Charge,

H. M. Naval Yard,

Hongkong.

Admiralty,

273

5th. November, 1902.

With reference to his letter of the

2nd. September, 1902, No. 717/656/6159 addressed to the Civil Engineer in Chief, the attached copy of a drawing shewing the scheme which Their Lordships have approved for the New Coaling Depot at Kowloon, 'is for- warded to the Commodore in charge for his information.

Particulars are being prepared in London

for entering into a Contract for carrying out the work.

It will be observed that it is not con- templated to reclaim the foreshore in front of the Plot 35 (Briquette

Factory) recently acquired by the Admiralty. The reclamation proposed

in front of Plot 49 would not affect the efficiency of user of the

proposed Coaling Pier and Embankment, provided that the said reclama-

tion is not allowed to be extended further seaward than shewn by the

red tint on the plan forwarded with the letter under reply.

It is important that no reclamation may

be permitted which would in any way interfere with vessels &c. ap-

proaching or leaving the new Jetty.

By Command of Their Lordships.

(Sd.) Evan Macgregor.
