Sir,

In answer to your Despatch No. 127 of the

9th. ultimo, and your telegram of the 14th. instant, I telegraph-

ed to you on the 15th. instant that there was no objection to

the Coal Jetty which the Admiralty desire to build at Kowloon

in front of Kowloon Marine Lot No. 35 on the distinct under-

standing that the owner of Kowloon Marine Lot 49 intends to

make the reclamation, shewn on the Admiralty plan enclosed in

your Despatch, in front of his lot and to project a pier or

piers seawards therefrom.

In explanation of the above mentioned

stipulation I have the honour to enclose copy of correspondence

with Commodore Robinson.

You will observe that in the Admiralty letter of

5th. November last it is stated that the proposed reclamation

in front of Marine Lot 49 would not interfere with the proposed

Coaling Jetty and Embankment provided that the said reclama-

tion is not allowed to be extended further seaward than shown

on the plan.
