Sir,
10238
(Pro) 03 MY 03 134
Registrar-General's Office,
Hongkong, April 15th, 1903.
I have the honour to state that Mr.
Hudson the Inspector under the Women and Girls' Protection
Ordinance, has requested to be allowed an allowance for a
Japanese Teacher for the purpose of studying Japanese.
2.
I do not know whether there are any
regulations concerning the study of Japanese, but I would strong-
ly recommend that Inspector Hudson's request be granted, as a
knowledge of that language would be most useful in the execution
of the duties of his office.
3.
Inspector Hudson has just recently passed
his second examination in Chinese and shews ability in acquiring
foreign languages.
Honourable
F. H. May, C.M.G.,
Colonial Secretary.
I have etc.,
(Sd.) C. McI. Messer,
Acting Registrar-General.
