In Major-General Gascoigne's Despatch
No. 221 of 16th. May, 1900, your authority was requested for
the grant of a piece of land of an area of 30,000 Square feet
near Kowloon City to the Church Missionary Society for the

purpose of erecting thereon a Rescue Home for Chinese Girls,
and that authority was duly received in your Despatch No. 239
of the same year. The site granted was approximately between
the Temple and Kowloon Inland Lot 1116 as delineated on the
enclosed sketch plan.

In July, 1901, the Director of Public
Works recommended that the Church Missionary Society's site
(upon which they had not yet commenced building operations)
should be removed to a greater distance from the Kowloon City
Road, and that a Church (Kowloon Inland Lot 768) belonging
to the Mission should at the same time he removed so as to
adjoin the new site in order to leave more space for expansion in this neighbourhood. This change necessitated the taking HE RIGHT HONOURABLE
