Surgeon who becomes Superintendent of the Government Civil

Hospital under the new scheme, and the Senior Medical Officer

of Health, should each receive an ultimate increase of salary

commensurate with their increased responsibilities. These

Officers will have more onerous duties to perform than the

other Assistant Surgeons and should in my opinion be paid at

a higher rate. I recommend that their salaries be allowed to

rise to $4,800 or £800 instead of only to $4,200 or £720 as

at present.

Your most obedient

Humble servant.
