[RES 22 APR 031

Government House,

Hongkong, 16th. March, 1903.

I have the honour to inform you that an

application has been received for the grant of a small area

of Crown land on the hills to the Eastward of Causeway Bay,

to enable the villagers of Tung Lo Wan to erect a small temple

there. Full enquiries have been made as to whether the applica-

tion is bona fide, and the result is satisfactory. I am of

opinion that the site may he granted on condition that the

temple is to be vested in trustees, that the building and

premises shall be used only for the lawful religious objects

and purposes of the temple, and that a nominal rent of $1

per annum is annually paid to the Government. I shall be glad

to know whether I have your approval for making this grant.

I enclose a plan prepared by the Director of Public Works

showing the position of the site in question.

I have the honour to be,

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

JOSEPH CHAMBERLAIN, M.P.,
