In reply to your letter 1007/08/0.5.0.
of the 24th instant, I have the honour to inform you
that I am prepared to accept the appointment. of English Master of the Anglo-Chinese School at Yaumati.
In doing so allow me to point out that
it practically means a reduction in the value of my present salary and emoluments of 220 per annum; there- fore in order to equalise matters, and seeing that at the end of the present year I will have completed three years service under the Colonial Government, I beg that Bis Excellency the Governor may be pleased to sanction that the first triennial increment be granted me from
the 1st January 1904.
