general surface of the ground behind the Hospital shall be

adequately drained and rendered dry. Wherever a puddle

exists at present behind and around the new building, Anopheles

larvae are present in large numbers.

It may be of interest to remark that we

have proof of the success of the work done at Kennedy Town,

i.e., the attention devoted to the nullahs and the protection

of the Caretaker's house by wire gauze screens, in the good

health that has been enjoyed by Inspector Cotton and his family.

There are several children, of whom only one has on one or two

occasions had slight fever, while Mr. and Mrs. Cotton and their

other children have been quite free from fever.
