In reply to your Circular Despatch of the

21st, of last August, I have the honour to inform you that a

local branch of the Society of Comparative Legislation has

been formed in Hongkong, the first Members of which will be

the Chief Justice, Sir W. M. Goodman, (Chairman), the Attorney-

General, Sir H. S. Berkeley, Mr. E. H. Sharp, K.C., (Secretary),

Messrs. T. M. Phillips, and M. W. Slade, Barristers at Law,

and Messrs. V. H. Deacon and G. C. C. Master, Solicitors.

It is proposed that the Hongkong Branch

should make a brief yearly report to the Society on matters

of local interest connected with Legislation.
