Sir,
i am directed by Mr Sec Ch to ack the receipt
of your letter of the 5th inst on the subject
of the state of health of Mr R.C.Dixon of HongKogg.
2. Unless you consider that there is a reason-**
eventually able prospect of Mr Dixon's being able to resume his duties in Hong Kong without risk to life and
Me
health Mr Ch considers that it would pe best for
him to retire at the end of his present leave.
An extension of leave could be granted only in
order to enable him to return to duty.
I In these circumstances Mr Ch would be glad
N
if you would be so good as to inform him whether
inyo pinion
there is any likelihood of Mr Dixon's being fit
for further service in a tropical climate if
his leave is extended.
I am &c.
