REPORT OF THE COMPTROLLER AND AUDITOR GENERAL ON THE
ACCOUNT OF RECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURE OF THE TREASURER
OF HONG KONG FOR THE YEAR 1901.
1. The Revenue for the year 1901 amounted to $3,804,458.71 or inclusive of Land Sales and Water Account, to $4,213,893. 22 cts. The Expenditure during the same period was $4,111,722.49. There was thus a surplus of Revenue of $102,170.73.
REVENUE.
2. The total Revenue of the year, amounting, as stated above, to $4,213,893.22, was $304,544.22 more than the Estimate of $3,909,349.00 and exceeded the Revenue of 1900 by $11,305.82.
The Estimated receipts of Revenue were exceeded under all Heads with the exception of "Rent of Government Pro-
"perty", "Interest", and "Land Sales", which fell short of the Estimates by $97,480.42, $4,998.86, and $159,684.94
respectively.
The differences between the amounts estimated and
realized under Heads and Sub-Heads are shown in the accom-
panying Detailed Statement of Revenue.
EXPENDITURE.
3. The total Expenditure of $4,111,722.49 exceeded the total Estimate by $117,452.20, and was greater than the Expenditure of 1900 by $183,275.36. The Treasurer's
