With reference to paragraph 4 of War Office

letter of 13th June, 1902, Hong Kong 8/135, regarding

the order of importance of the acquisition of the

several areas of land required by the War Department, I

am directed by the Secretary of State for War to say that

it is considered, subject to your concurrence, that such

relative importance is as follows :-

Primary

Secondary

Tertiary

And

Bowen Road hospital site, defence

works sites at West Point, Victoria Peak (Pinewood), and Devils Peak, and the rifle ranges at Devils Peak.

Barrack sites at Victoria Peak(vicin-

ity) and Devils Peak.

Training ground.

2. The boundaries of the land to be taken at

Bowen Road, and West Point, are determined, and no

question arises in these cases. The boundaries of the

land required for rifle ranges will be fixed by the

necessities of the case and are therefore left to your

discretion. The same remark applies to the defence

site at Pinewood, and that at Devils Peak, except as
