528 June 1902, Hong Kong 8/135 (F.11), respecting the transfer
of lands at Hong Kong between the Colonial Government and the War Department; I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to forward for the information of Mr.
Secretary Chamberlain the accompanying copy of a letter of the 4th instant, which has been addressed to the General Officer Commanding in China and Hong Kong. Subsequent to the despatch of the agreed

letter to the General Officer Commanding on the subject of the three exchanges a proposal was received from him materially modifying his recommendations regarding the extent of land to be acquired at Devils Peak, and advocating in lieu the adoption of Nog Tau Kok in the Kowloon peninsula as a site for barracks and training ground.

Mr. Brodrick has no intention of approving any proposal which would delay the course of the arbitration
