Mr Dickinson shewed me parts of the specification
for the HongKong Electric Tramways in draft in
June 1901, saying that he wished the work to be in
accordance with Board of Trade practice. I wrote to
him on July 6th making several criticisms and told
him that if
instructed to make a report I should
report in terms of that letter, which was sent to
Save time,
Nearly all my suggestions were adopted, the only
exceptions being in the case of "dry" trolley wire
clips instead of soldered clips, and the use of screw –
ed ending to the trolley wire.
The specification and drawings in their final.
form appear to describe the equipment of an electric
tramvay well adapted for the locality, and superior
in many respects to that of electric tramways equipped
by American engineers in the United Kingdom.
